At American Stone, we know where the best stone comes from, how it’s formed, and why it performs the way it does. Many of our most iconic materials come directly from our own quarries across Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona. These are working landscapes, shaped by geology, weather, and time, and carefully managed to deliver stone that lasts for generations.Every quarry has a personality. Every stone has a backstory. Here’s where it all begins.
Cotton Thomas & Fish Creek Quarries – Idaho
World-Renowned Quartzite Country.
This region of Idaho is known globally for producing some of the finest quartzite available – and we’re proud to quarry right alongside the best.
Here you’ll find stones like Autumn Gold, Buckskin, Storm Mountain, Fish Creek Brown, Windridge, and more. Many feature natural mica, giving them subtle sparkle and depth that catches the light beautifully. These stones are tough, weather-resistant, and visually rich – ideal for both residential and commercial projects.
You’ll also find Quartzite Cobbles, Mountain Ash Granite, and Seasalt (dolomite) here, rounding out one of the most diverse quarry regions we operate.
Summit Creek Quarry – Idaho
Naturally Formed Basalt Columns.
The Summit Creek quarry produces Aztec Gold Basalt Columns, a dramatic igneous stone formed by natural cooling and fracturing. These columns are prized for water features, fountains, and statement accents, where their vertical form and earthy tones shine.
No cutting tricks. No artificial shaping. Just geology doing what it does best.
Heber Quarry – Heber, Utah
The Heart of Cherokee Red.
Few stones are as tied to place as Cherokee Red Sandstone. Quarried in Heber Valley, this sandstone has shaped buildings, landscapes, and communities throughout the region for generations.
Its deep red tones, natural durability, and unmistakable character make it a cornerstone of Mountain West architecture. This quarry operates seasonally, working in rhythm with the land and weather, just as it has for decades.
If you’ve seen red stone walls, paths, or foundations in Heber City – chances are, this is where they came from.
Baker Quarry – Baker, Nevada
Clean Lines. Subtle Gold.
The Baker quarry produces Baker Gold Quartzite, a refined stone with gray foundations and soft gold highlights. This material is quarried in straight-edge formats, making it ideal for clean, architectural layouts where consistency and structure matter.
It’s understated, strong, and quietly elegant — a favorite for modern hardscape designs.
Aragonite Quarry – Aragonite, Utah
Rare Onyx with Natural Brilliance.
Tucked into the Utah desert, our Aragonite quarry produces some of the most visually striking stone we offer. This is where Honey Onyx and Coral Onyx are born — calcium carbonate stones known for their translucence, soft movement, and natural glow.
Often called “white onyx,” Honey Onyx features creamy whites with flowing gold veining, while Coral Onyx brings warmer pink tones to the same luminous structure. These stones are as functional as they are beautiful, naturally increasing water pH and making them popular for water features and specialty applications.
This quarry is opened intentionally and selectively, preserving the rarity and quality of every piece.
Utah Honeycrest Quarry – Utah
Coming 2026: Honeycrest Travertine.
Our newest chapter is just beginning.
The Utah Honeycrest Quarry will introduce Honeycrest Travertine to the American Stone lineup in 2026. This upcoming quarry represents our continued investment in domestic sourcing, long-term availability, and stones that belong naturally in Mountain West homes and landscapes.
More details coming soon – but this is one to watch.
